Time Sequence

"Time Sequence" is a newly developed graphical user interface that helps the user easily understand the entire scan to be performed. The tube current can be increased or reduced, the number of dynamic scans can be changed interactively while observing the displayed graph.

CT systems incorporate a host of both automatic and stand-by safety features to achieve the ALARA principle and prevent accidental exposure of the patient to unnecessary levels of radiation. A built-in Dose Check alarm can be set to notify operators if an unsafe level of exposure is being requested while creating a protocol. In addition, as specified by IHE, the Radiation Exposure Monitoring Profile is available in the latest software. This function automatically records all scanning data so the amount of dose for a particular patient or study can be accurately tracked.

Real time imaging

Real-time visualization is a valuable tool that provides an instantaneous view of a helical scan in real-time. A Toshiba Medical first, real-time imaging allows the operator to monitor contrast enhancement and ensures adequate scan coverage without the need to wait for even one conventional image reconstruction.

SUREExposure 3D

SUREExposure 3D is an user-friendly solution for applying automatic exposure controls that can be programmed into every examplan preset. Based on the user-specified level of image quality and the automatic attenuation measurements obtained from the patient scanogram, the tube current (mA) is automatically adjusted in the X, Y and Z planes to maintain image quality at a constant level. As a result, SUREExposure 3D alone can achieve a dose reduction of up to 40% depending on the individual patient and the anatomy to be scanned.

SURECardio Prospective

Combining the benefits of helical scanning and ECG gated exposure control, SURECardio Prospective is able to rapidly pulse the x-rays on and off, thus exposing the patient only during the cardiac phase or phases required for the diagnostic task. In addition to achieving a reduction in patient dose of up to 80%, this proprietary multi-detector scanning technique also facilitates rapid, consistent acquisitions and shortens exam times.

variable Helical Pitch

A truly innovative Toshiba Medical first is the development of variable Helical Pitch (vHP) which allows greater flexibility when performing combined studies while significantly reducing contrast and radiation dose requirements. For example, in a chest pain triage examination, ECG gated scanning with a slow pitch is performed for the heart, seamlessly switching to non-gated scanning with a faster pitch for the remainder of the chest. vHP can achieve a reduction in radiation dose of up to 55% compared to a traditional scan. In addition, the amount of contrast medium can also be significantly reduced due to the shorter acquisition time.
